Solearth Architecture

Not strictly a residential architectural wonder today, but a fantastic building and a great exhibit we thought was worth a mention. Airfield in Dundrum is a 38 acre working farm, garden and heritage experience in the heart of Dublin 14.

You wouldn’t know it as you wander around the monstrous Dundrum Town Centre that under a mile away is this lovely country house and gardens.

Solearth Architecture were tasked with the redevelopment of the entrance and visitors centre as part of the park’s €11 million reopening in 2014 (more on this from the Irish Times).

The classy, light and welcoming new Visitor Centre and front entrance.
Even the working farm got an update – the luckiest animals in Dublin!
The new cafe and garden beds.
The stunning original house, opened by the Overend Family in 1974 for educational and recreational purposes.
