Every day this week we are highlighting the best residential nominees for this year's Irish Architect Awards in the RIAI People's Choice Awards. Today we have a break from the typical residential conversions, as we see Howley Hayes restoring the historic Russborough House.

Not your standard residential project, Howley Hayes are nominated for their commendable work restoring and refurbishing the monumental Russborough House after a fire in 2010 threatened complete destruction.

Howley Hayes have been appointed as architects to Russborough since 2002 in a role to oversee conservation works and to design new visitor’s facilities for one of Ireland’s best country estates. However, after the fire they stepped in to rebuild and repair the damage, while taking the opportunity to update the building to modern needs.

Rentention of Original Roof Structure
Replacement of slate roof and restoration of classical rooftop urns.
Updating some of the interiors to a traditional classic style.
