Annie Sloan has nearly single-handedly launched the painted and distressed furniture revolution. Her famous Chalk Paint decorative paint specifically designed for furniture, that can also be used on walls, floors, concrete, ceramic, even fabrics.
The Royal Connection
The company’s most notable moment in the spotlight came in April 2015 when they potentially revealed the sex of the Royal Couple William and Kate’s second baby. British tabloids uncovered that Annie Sloan had supplied “three decidedly feminine paint samples to Anmer Hall, the ten-bedroom house on the Queen’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, which is currently home to the expectant couple.”
Annie Sloan is very popular with the growing trend of painting and distressing old and unloved pieces of furniture. With the rise of social media there is a whole treasure trove of ideas and inspiration online – the #anniesloan has over 107,000 photos on Instagram alone.
Now Annie Sloan and her affiliates worldwide have launched their #MadeItMyOwn campaign where talents and amateur decorators alike can enter their designs to win prizes
This quirky social competition asks you to upload your photos of recently upcycled or decorated pieces using Annie Sloan Chalk Paints. There is a cut-out frame to hold up in front of your masterpiece and then upload it to the Annie Sloan site. Finally you should share your work on your social media profiles.
