Queuing for new homes launches is back again

As reported by all the major papers today, there are already queues forming at Millers Glen over 5 days before the sales office officially opens on Saturday. (The Independent)

Young house hunters were eager to be first through the doors as the show homes were opened for the first time. Seems crazy they are so sure they will want one of the scheme’s 60 homes without having even seen inside the near-complete units. But the scheme has plenty of people talking and looks impressively build and finished by Gannon Homes.

Supply and Affordabilty

The key to the near-guaranteed success of this the unmatched demand for property and the complete lack of stock. Particularly new homes, where there are next to none. Millers Glen is the first major launch in 2014. And at only 60 units, it’s a small drop in the barrel.

However, it is likely down to affordability that will ensure this new development sells out in a matter of days or weeks at worse. With prices starting at €239,950 for a spacious 2-bed townhouse, and rising up to €399,950 for the large 4-bed detached homes, these are not looking overpriced in today’s market. In fact, they could have probably realigned their prices in the late summer without too much impact on a sell out opening.
